After being released from prison after 25 years, New York mob hitman Dwight “The General”; Manfredi was exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sylvester Stallone’s first starring role in a television series. Dwight 'The General' Manfredi: I don’t actually go to church. The opening sequence presents various photographic and painted views and Oklahoma landmarks of the New York landscape: Sioux Indian Chief Statue "Touch the Clouds" He wears a War Bonnet and Bone Choker necklace (pectoral plate) erected atop the Brooklyn Bridge Golden Driller statue on the Statue of Liberty, Route 66 Western Gateway Arch on a Major Manhattan “Avenue”.
in New York City, the borough of Manhattan, which contains a number of numbered “Avenues”. Featured in CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #45.7 (2022). I watched it out of curiosity, I didn’t have high expectations, it just surprised Stallone in a TV series. (https://sixthboroughmedical.com/) You can feel the tension in the scenes and it seems quite realistic as the plot would require.
I wouldn’t say it’s humorous, but some of the funny scenes are because of Dwight’s (Stallone) release from his 25-year prison sentence and not fully integrated into how the world works now; so I’m assuming the sudden transition will cause interesting bugs for him and for us. It’s a clever enough script, but not in a powerfully witty way that bodes well. Of course, Stallone is a huge presence, but the rest of the cast looks pretty good. The show literally feels like you took the thugs written for an early 90’s movie and just threw them into 2022 and it’s a good mix of humor and violence.
I thought it was going to be a throwaway show like some stud movies lately; mostly just relying on his name and performances, but Taylor Sheridan does a good job here and writes worthy of Stallone’s performances. I think it will be fun to watch macho Stallone build a criminal empire from scratch in the middle of nowhere, Tulsa. I love how it has that western gritty feel at times while still being mob. I think the show will end up going under the radar and then later on it might get hype from people asking why it wasn’t picked up earlier because I haven’t seen that much publicity from Paramount.
, but if the premiere episode is anything to go by, it could be a really fun watch. I’ll rank as more episodes come out and update if anything drastic changes about the show. Check out "Yellowstone" Season 5, Episode 2, "Squid Game" Season 2 and more of the most anticipated new and returning series on TV and streaming.
