After a traumatic incident during his internship, young medical student James Hayman (Namir Smallwood) moves to a rural hospital to start a new life. Noticing that James has trouble connecting with patients, Dr. Harrison (veteran stage and screen actor Michael Potts) suggests that he enroll in a course that focuses on good manners and facilitating deeper relationships with patients. The demons of James’ past begin to catch up with him when he becomes engulfed by the case of a young asthmatic patient (Sidney Flanigan, NEVER RARELY SOMETIMES ALWAYS) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to falter as disturbing nightmares, anxiety-inducing speculations and physical injuries collide with the brutal realities of the medical world.
