Charles, a retired man, finds a new lease on life when he answers a private investigator’s ad and becomes a mole in a secret investigation into a nursing home. Michael Schur was inspired to create “A Man On the Inside” after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.” He says, “The Mole Agent” Documentary is powerful because it makes people feel something remarkably similar regardless of age, ethnicity, or gender, and I would describe that feeling in a very reductive way as “I have to call my mother.” In our show, we tried to do a similar thing with the tone: Basically, our show contributes to that feeling of making us want to call our mom?
And he played a great widower stuck in a rut of grieving after the loss of his wife. The show is heartwarming and portrays the necessary companionship of both family and friends as you get older, especially after the loss of a loved one.
It’s easy to watch, easy to laugh at with its touching moments, and I can’t wait for season 2! It starts off easy and fast and is easy to watch all 8 episodes.
I recommend it to anyone who loves silly comedies but also wants something to feel good about.
